Kingdom Hearts 2

So last night I bought Kingdom Hearts II knowing full well that I can't spend my time on it. I've got animation to practice and projects that need to get done. But today I let my gamer roots come out and started it up. Now... you have to realize that I've been waiting for this game for about 2 years and I've been following its progress the whole way. So you'll understand my excitement when I was paying for it last night. But I put it off for today knowing that I had to work the next morning.
So when I popped the disk in and started up a new game, It brought a tear to my eye. What draws me to this game so much is the in depth story and the lovable characters. Not only on the Disney side of it, but also the japanese side of it. The story has an amazing depth comparable to, dare I say it, Final Fantasy 7. If you haven't played the first one and your into Disney movies and videogames, I definately reccomend it and this game has made more improvements on the last game than I could even imagine. About 3 hours in I told myself that I had to stop and take a brake. I was barely through the prologue!

In movie news though I've recently watched 2 animated films. I finally saw Howl's Moving Castle. Hayao Miyazaki san did it again. HMC was one of the most beautiful movies I've seen in awhile as far as animation and storytelling. Brilliant characters and wonderful backgrounds make that film one of my top 20. (20 sounds like a lot but it really isn't.)

And also the other day I watched Chicken Little. I was absolutely blown away. It's one of those movies where you think it looks "eh..." in the previews so you tell yourself, "I'll wait till it comes out on DVD". Then you wish you could kick yourself in the head for not seeing it in the theatre. The cartoonyness of it was amazing and dead on, while the rigs of the characters allowed the animators to do whatever they wanted. Total freedom in the characters. Storywise it was alright, not the most groundbreaking, but it was heartfelt. 4 stars from em.

So now I want to post a short film from Bill Plympton. If you don't know this guy, his work is amazing. All the animation is done by himself, so you can automatically recognize the amount of hardwork and awesome skills he has. It's called "Your Face", and while your at it check out some of his other work including "Nosehair" and "The Fan and the Flower". Both are equally amazing.
